About GU
The Technical Challenge
Production includes, among other things, door hardware with component lengths of up to 3.60 meters—some of which feature rivet points in recesses or hard-to-reach areas.
The requirements are:
- High setting force with consistent precision
- Reliable operation in recesses
- Process stability for high-volume production
- Scalability for future growth
- Integration of automated riveting technology
GESIPA® not only supplies the right fastener for this, but also a comprehensive, integrated solution combining equipment technology, special rivets, and automation.
GESIPA® Products at GU
In GU's manufacturing process, GESIPA® blind rivets are used as key components in:
- Door hardware
- Closing and locking systems
- Frame and profile constructions
- Automatic and functional doors
permanently and securely connected.
The components can reach lengths of up to 3.60 meters. In some cases, the joining points are located in recesses or hard-to-reach areas within complex profile geometries. In such cases, precisely tailored blind rivet solutions are crucial.
Blind rivets are installed both manually and automatically. In addition to equipment such as the GESIPA® Taurus 2 and Taurus Axial Eco, automated solutions such as the GAV blind riveting machine are used. These enable reproducible, cycle-timed installation and can be seamlessly integrated into existing production lines.
The combination of precisely defined fasteners and tailored equipment technology ensures consistently high quality—even with complex component geometries, long profiles, and hard-to-reach setting points.
Solutions & Added Value Through Systems Thinking
Our collaboration with the Gretsch-Unitas Group is based on a clear understanding of systems partnership: joining technology is not an isolated process step, but an integral part of complex industrial manufacturing. That is precisely why our services do not begin with the product itself, but start with technical analysis and consultation.
GESIPA® supports general contractors in both new and existing applications and works with the responsible parties to examine the entire process chain. The goal is to develop a blind rivet solution that integrates seamlessly into the existing production environment and supports existing processes rather than altering them.
In doing so, we see ourselves not merely as a supplier of blind rivets or equipment, but as a technical partner on equal footing. Custom-designed special rivets, high-performance blind riveting tools, and automation solutions are engineered to operate with consistent process reliability and to adapt flexibly to future requirements.
We also provide ongoing support to GU during operations. We test applications, optimize setting parameters, analyze opportunities for efficiency gains, and assist with adjustments in production. In this way, we ensure that quality, cost-effectiveness, and process stability are maintained over the long term.
Partnership for the Highest Standards in Door and Building Technology
Ensuring Quality Together
Our collaboration with Gretsch-Unitas is characterized by close technical exchange and a clear understanding of the system.
As an internationally active supplier of hardware systems, locking technology, and automatic door solutions, GU sets high standards for quality, process reliability, and integration into existing manufacturing structures.
GESIPA® not only supports GU with tailored blind rivet technology but also continuously assists GU in optimizing applications and production processes. This fosters a collaborative partnership in which joining technology is understood and further developed as an integral part of complex door and building systems.
